2020 SIS Annual Meeting - Call for Abstracts
Hilton San Diego Bayfront
San Diego, California
August 5-8, 2020

Submit your research for presentation at the 2020 SIS Annual Meeting in San Diego.

The Annual Meeting will include podium presentations of abstracts during General Session as well as a Poster Presentations with Authors session offering CME credit. Podium presentations or posters of industry-sponsored research abstracts are not eligible for presentation during sessions offering CME credit. Industry-sponsored research abstracts accepted for presentation will be displayed as posters in the Exhibit Hall.

The Poster Presentations with Authors session is an opportunity for authors to showcase their research. Presenting authors (or their designated representative) who have accepted an invitation are expected to attend and present their poster to attendees during this session. If an author accepts the invitation but fails to present his or her poster, that may preclude consideration of future submissions.

  1. Preference will be given to original research that has not been presented elsewhere.

  2. In order to maintain an investigator-driven process, the submitter of the poster should be the first (primary) author. Staff representatives from industry are not allowed to submit original research abstracts on behalf of an investigator. All abstract correspondence will be sent via email to the submitter (first/primary author).

  3. If selected for presentation, the presenter need not be the first/primary author but must have been involved in the research. Once identified, SIS staff will communicate via email directly with the presenter regarding meeting logistics.

  4. All authors must complete the financial disclosure survey by the submission deadline. Submissions without disclosures will not be evaluated.

  5. ACCME Accreditation Criteria and Standards requires that SIS carefully review the financial disclosures of all authors of industry-sponsored research abstracts. Abstracts from research funded by commercial interests (defined by the ACCME as "any entity producing, marketing, re-selling, or distributing health care goods or services consumed by or used on patients") may not be eligible for display or presentation during a session offering CME credit.

  6. The SIS Conflict of Interest Resolution Policy for Abstract Presentations outlines the process by which relationships between authors and industry will be considered when determining whether an abstract will be accepted for presentation during a session offering CME credit.
  • If any author on an abstract is an employee of a commercial interest, the abstract will be considered industry-sponsored.

  • Agreements for future remuneration related to the research, device, or technology presented will be considered during the evaluation process, even if the author has not received compensation at the time of submission.

  • In some cases, a consulting relationship with a commercial interest may be considered equal to an employee of a commercial interest.

  • Poster presentations will include a listing of the financial disclosures of all authors.

Please note that by submitting an abstract, you indicate your agreement to all terms above.
