SIS, AMA, and Physician Organizations Urge Additional COVID-19 Liability Protection

Thursday, June 11, 2020

SIS joined the American Medical Association (AMA) and many other physician organizations and state medical societies in submitting a letter to U.S. congressional leaders urging them to carry forward the targeted and limited liability protections from the bipartisan bill, H.R. 7059, the “Coronavirus Provider Protection Act," into the next COVID-19 relief package.

In these unprecedented times with rapidly changing guidance and directives from all levels of government, protections are needed for those who provide care in good faith during the COVID-19 public health emergency in order to ensure they are not vulnerable to unwarranted and unfair lawsuits.

SIS is able to participate in advocacy efforts organized by the American Medical Association due to SIS members who maintain their own membership in the AMA. Help SIS maintain its seat at this important table by keeping your AMA membership current.
