SIS, AMA, and Physician Organizations Urge Additional COVID-19 Legislative Action

Friday, April 17, 2020
SIS joined the American Medical Association (AMA) and many other physician organizations and state medical societies in submitting a letter to congressional leaders urging them to protect patient access to medical care by preserving the viability of physician practices across the country. The letter requests additional federal support for physician practices impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, calling on lawmakers to consider supplemental measures, including: adjustment of Medicare and Medicaid payment provisions, telemedicine services coverage, expansion of small business loan funding, tuition relief for medical students contributing to patient care, and medical liability protections.

SIS is able to participate in advocacy efforts organized by the American Medical Association due to SIS members who maintain their own membership in the AMA. Help SIS maintain its seat at this important table by keeping your AMA membership current.
