SIS, AMA, and Many Other Medical Organizations Recommend CMS Revamp MIPS Value Pathway

Monday, April 13, 2020
On April 10, 2020, the Spine Intervention Society joined the AMA and 35 other healthcare stakeholder organizations in submitting a letter outlining concerns regarding the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathway (MVP). Specifically, the medical community is requesting that the MVP be restructured to improve the relevance of MIPS to clinical practice and reduce unnecessary burdens. Recommendations include a request that MVP participation remain voluntary, creation of a transition period, focus on clinically meaningful measures, promotion of innovative health information technology, streamlined reporting, and appropriate incentives to report on new measures.

SIS is able to participate in advocacy efforts organized by the American Medical Association due to SIS members who maintain their own membership in the AMA. Help SIS maintain its seat at this important table by keeping your AMA membership current.
