SIS, AMA and Many Other Medical Organizations Urge CMS to Rethink Quality Reporting Policies

Tuesday, February 4, 2020
On January 31, 2020, the Spine Intervention Society joined the AMA and 36 other health care stakeholder organizations in submitting a letter outlining concerns regarding the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) quality measure selection and removal policy as finalized in the 2020 Physician Fee Schedule/Quality Payment Program (QPP) Final Rule. Specifically, the medical community expresses concern about the lack of stability in quality reporting policies and standards and the timeline for new testing requirements placed on qualified clinical data registry (QCDR) measures. SIS joins the AMA and other signatories in urging CMS to broaden its bench of clinical and measurement experts and follow recommendations designed to handle the new QCDR testing requirements.
