SIS, AMA, and Over 100 Other Stakeholders Advise CMS on How to Simplify Prior Authorization

Thursday, October 10, 2019
On September 20, 2019, the Spine Intervention Society joined the AMA and 103 other health care stakeholder organizations in submitting a letter of support outlining concerns regarding the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) focus on automation as the solution to handling prior authorizations. Specifically, the medical community expresses concern about extracting information from electronic health records to facilitate the electronic exchange of clinical data. SIS joins the AMA and other signatories in urging CMS to consider a comprehensive policy to reduce the harms and burdens of prior authorization.

SIS is able to participate in advocacy efforts organized by the American Medical Association due to SIS members who maintain their own membership in the AMA. Help SIS maintain its seat at this important table by keeping your AMA membership current.
