The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has issued a notice that DEA registrants are being targeted to receive telephone calls and emails by criminals identifying themselves as DEA employees or other law enforcement personnel. These criminals are masking their telephone numbers to display a false DEA registration support notice on caller ID systems.

The DEA would like all registrants to know that DEA employees would not demand money or threaten to suspend DEA registration. If you are contacted by a person purporting to work for DEA and seeking money or threatening to suspend your DEA registration, please report it to the DEA through the “Extortion Scam Online Reportingportal on the DEA Diversion Control Division’s website.
