On June 7, 2018 SIS presented evidence again to BlueCross BlueShield in 5 states (Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas) in support of coverage for radiofrequency denervation of the third occipital nerve (C2-3) and the sacroiliac joint. SIS has previously provided comments on the Facet Joint and Sacroiliac Joint Denervation policy’s coverage criteria which is inconsistent with the best available evidence as well as multisociety-endorsed coverage policy recommendations.

Click on the state names to review the letters, which also include the multisociety-developed Appropriate Use Criteria for Fluoroscopically-Guided Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sacroiliac Interventions.
