SIS and 11 Other Societies Promote Access to Radiofrequency Neurotomy for Patients in Oregon

Tuesday, October 17, 2017
SIS and 11 other medical societies have submitted comments to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) advocating for access to radiofrequency neurotomy. The letter presents evidence that lumbar medial branch thermal radiofrequency neurotomy, when performed correctly in appropriately selected patients, results in "significant relief of pain, with restoration of function and return to work, as well as decreased utilization of other healthcare resources… an outcome that you do not want to deny to patients covered by the Oregon Health Authority.” Read the full response.

The Spine Intervention Society convened the medical societies and coordinated this response, and urges you to take individual action. Click here to see how you can play a role in regaining access to this valuable treatment.
