SIS International Outreach Course
Hands-On Learning for Regions With Limited Spine Intervention Training Opportunities

With this international outreach course, SIS is bringing hands-on lumbar intervention training to Majorca, Spain exclusively to SIS members based in Europe. You will experience 8 hours of hands-on lab instruction with phantom spine models and 5.75 hours of lectures, breakout sessions, and discussions with your instructors. The techniques you will learn and practice at this course will provide your foundation for achieving optimal patient outcomes.

  • SIS Fellow and Resident Members Residing in Europe
  • SIS International Members Residing in Europe Who Are Within Their First 5 Years of Practice

International Members not meeting the above criteria may submit registration and will be placed on a wait list. Payment will not be processed unless you have obtained a spot.

Hotel and Transportation
Attendees must make their own hotel and travel arrangements. Majorca is served by Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI).

SIS will provide transportation from and to the Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Islas Baleares at Paseo de Mallorca 42, 07012, in Palma at the times specified in the agenda.

Attendees will receive digital copies of the presented lectures upon completion of the course.

Transportation
Upon arrival at Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI), please arrange your own ground transportation to the hotel of your choice and back to the airport on Sunday once the course concludes.  

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Analyze the imaging depiction of the relevant anatomy;
  • Relate patient history and physical exam findings with imaging to achieve a likely diagnosis of the spinal pathology causing the patient’s pain or dysfunction;
  • Describe the literature support for the efficacy of the procedures;
  • Identify the risks and benefits of each procedure, as well as assessment, prevention, and treatment of potential complications;
  • Apply technically correct performance of the spinal procedures using safe fluoroscopic guidance with minimal tissue injury or discomfort.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be requested within 21 days prior to the course for a refund less a $150 administrative fee. Cancellations made less than 21 days prior will result in forfeiture of all fees. SIS reserves the right to cancel this event due to circumstances beyond its control. The Society assumes no financial obligation to registrants for costs incurred.

Disclosure Policy
SIS plans and implements educational activities in accordance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Criteria and Standards for Commercial Support to ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor.
