Systematic Reviews

The Spine Intervention Society (SIS) is committed to the comprehensive and rigorous assessment of evidence relative to diagnostic and therapeutic spinal interventions. To this end, SIS has adopted the GRADE approach to critically appraising the literature in our systematic reviews.

Evidence Analysis Committee

Purpose/Mission

Develop systematic reviews under the direction of the Standards Division.

Charges

  1. Comply with the strategic plan as adopted by the SIS Board of Directors and ensure that the organization-wide goals of integrity and promotion of best evidence are considered in all activities.
  2. In collaboration with the Appropriate Use Criteria Committee, develop systematic reviews to serve as the basis for AUC development.
  3. In conjunction with the Standards Division, selectively review and provide commentary on relevant external practice guidelines.
  4. Perform expedited systematic reviews to assist the Health Policy Division with addressing coverage issues.
  5. Publish systematic reviews.
